On day-39 of the ongoing 40 Days of Revival, Rev Shan Kikon of Faith Harvest Church, Kohima said that the healing of the land is connected to the out pouring of the Spirit and it is the will of God for everyone to experience the touch of the Holy Spirit.
Speaking at the ‘Heal Nagaland’ event as part of the last five-days of 40 Days of Revival at the football ground of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Riverbelt Colony, Dimapur, Rev Shan said that “…the answer to Nagaland is in the spirit of God coming to the new generations.”
He said that “The answer for Nagaland will not be some big names changing but the answer to Nagaland will be young people like you being touched by the Holy Spirit tonight. That is God’s pattern throughout the scriptures.”
Recollecting an incident where he along with his friends organized ‘The Power Crusade’ at State Academy Hall, Kohima in 1997, Rev Shan said that after the revival there were so many oppositions from church leaders and other denominations. However, he testified that out of that crusade more than 20-30 pastors have come up serving God in full time ministry, out of that Crusade so many ministries have been birthed out.
He said that many churches, intercessors are praying for revival in Nagaland, to bring change, transform and heal Nagaland and added, “And maybe one of the ways God is answering that prayer is by independent churches rising up, charismatic churches rising up, new ministries being birthed out.”
Rev Shan also cautioned the congregation of the ‘dangers of complacency and being too comfortable in our faith.’ He gave the examples of places in Europe, which were ‘once full of revival, fortress of the truth and reformation, the gospel’, have now turned into places for rave parties.
The Reverend affirmed that change happens in the land after the Holy Spirit comes. “Look to where and to what the Holy Spirit is doing. And if we are praying for Nagaland to change and the response is God pouring spirit on class 10 children, class 5 children, if God is pouring out the Spirit on a small church here, on a small fellowship there, then that is God’s answer. Because in the mind frame of God, God is saying that young people being touched by the Spirit, it is my answer for your cry for Nagaland to change. We have to always see from His wisdom and perspective.”
He also said that “the future for Nagaland is not for some chief minister changing, it is you being touched by the Holy Spirit tonight” and added, “God doesn’t change institutions, civil societies, hohos. He changes people’s heart.”
During the worship service, Sinai Music also presented their original songs.
The 40 Days of Revival will culminate on April 19 (Tuesday) with representatives from the state government, civil societies, Naga Political groups, Church leaders and others coming together for a time of prayer. Rev Dr Wati Aier, convenor, Forum for Naga Reconciliation will be the speaker.
