Dimapur | April 17
The 40 Days of Revival organised by the Sinai Ministry, Dimapur has entered day-38 on April 17. The revival is held to commemorate the 150 years of Christianity in Nagaland since March 11.
Speaking on day-38 worship service at the football ground of Don Bosco Higher secondary school, Riverbelt Colony, Dimapur, Charley Elliot Sr, Soul Harvest Mission, US said that ‘when you come to God, there are no barriers or limits of the world system. We are all one.’ He said that God uses ‘gender neutral language’ to “make us understand that we are one with God.”
Pastor Charley said that for success in this word, ‘it is not so much about what you know, but who you know.’ He said that one can trust in their position, wealth and gift but if they are stuck in pride, “the truth is you are miserable.”
He said that “grace is the power to change you in the image of Jesus,” however, many Christians confuse mercy with grace. He lamented that young people are compromising their life and values with social media for popularity and also using grace as a license to sin. Pastor Charley said that the problem is not the people. “If you are living in pride, that is a greater problem,” while adding that ‘God does not condemn the people, but convicts people of their sin.’
‘Revival,’ according to him, is about ‘coming again and drawing closer to God.’ He said that one should respond to God’s love and mercy with “your will.”
He also said that if one is going to church out of duty and not out of love, both man and God will not get anything out of it. Challenging pastors, he also gave a clarion call not to be in the ministry for all the wrong reasons which includes status, position, power, honour and money.
Meanwhile, Alobo Naga presented songs during the service while the Sinai Music led the praise and worship.
On April 18 (Monday), Rev Shan Kikon, Faith Harvest Church will be the speaker and the Sinai Music will be presenting their original songs.
Why ‘Heal Nagaland’
Sensing the urgency for “repentance, reconciliation and unity among the Nagas and in the body of Christ,” the organizers have set aside a five-day event as part of the last days of 40 Days of Revival under the theme ‘Heal Nagaland’.
The ‘Heal Nagaland’ event is being held at the football ground of Don Bosco Higher secondary school, Riverbelt Colony, Dimapur from 5:00 pm onwards. It is a clarion call to all the Naga brothers and sisters, irrespective of denomination, race, caste, age, gender, or status, to come together in unity and pray for the healing of the land.
On April 19 (Tuesday), representatives from the state government, civil societies, Naga Political groups, Church leaders and others are expected to come together for a time of prayer. Rev Dr Wati Aier, convenor of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation will be the speaker.
