Health camp for vegetable vendors and wholesalers

Pfutsero, May 28 (MExN): On May 26, a health camp and livelihood enhancement programme was held at Pfutsero Town for the vegetable vendors as well as wholesalers of the town. Around a hundred women participated in the programme at the Baptist Theological College (BTC) auditorium, T Chikri that provided a free Cervical Cancer screening for all these women who belong to the most vulnerable sections of society and cannot afford regular checks for themselves.  

A team of three doctors comprising a Cancer Surgeon, a Gynaecologist and an Orthopaedic with nine nurses and a pharmacist conducted the health camp that offered free Pap smear tests and medicines to the attendees.  

Speaking to the women vendors at the inaugural session, prior to the health camp, the doctors from the K &T Keditsu Foundation highlighted the need for women to take care of themselves and their health seriously. Dr Thejavinuo Keditsu spoke on the ‘Basics of Women Health’ while Dr Keduovinuo Keditsu gave an ‘Introduction of Cervical Cancer’.  

The programme was chaired by Vechulou Kanuo, the Director of the Chakhesang Women Welfare Society (CWWS) who is the Pfutsero partner of EA for the project.
