Free screening of Non-Communicable Diseases was done during the health care and management seminar in Zunheboto on August 30.
Zunheboto, September 2 (MExN): The Sumi Baptist Church Zunheboto organized a health care and management seminar in collaboration with the District Health Society Zunheboto on August 30 at Sumi Baptist Church Zunheboto.
A free mega screening of Non-Communicable Diseases (Hypertension, Diabetes, Heart Diseases, Stroke, Obesity, Cancer, etc) was conducted where a number of more than 200 beneficiaries availed free blood pressure test, blood sugar test and BMI.
Twelve medical officers, ten nurses, eight lab technicians and other supporting staffs from CMO and District Hospital establishment rendered their services, informed a press release from District Media Officer Keneikhrietuo.
After the screening of NCDs, a seminar on health care and management was conducted during which resource person Dr K Akaho Sema, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Zunheboto spoke on the topic ‘Adopting Healthy Life Style.
Stating that NCDs alone accounts for 62% of mortality and morbidity, he stressed on the importance of exercise, dietary pattern, self-care and periodic screening of NCDs and emphasized on the regular follow up and adherence to treatment, the release stated. He also briefed on mental health and care for the elderly.
For the second session, the resource person Dr Tokugha Y Rochill, Managing Director, Rochill Hospital Zunheboto spoke on the topic ‘Men, Women and Health.’
He emphasized on the importance of family planning, women health and how men should be equally involved in family planning. He further stressed on care during pregnancy and the importance and safety of institutional delivery, the press release stated.
