Wokha, April 26 (MExN): Department of Health and Family Welfare, Wokha organised a block level health mela at Chukitong Primary Health Centre on April 26. 

Chief Medical Officer, Wokha, Dr Tumchobeni stated that the health mela was organized to mark 75 years of independence and it emphasised on Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana scheme and providing health services free of cost.

The CMO Wokha in a press release stated that ENT, NCD health card, AB-PMJAY BIS drive, malaria, AYUSH,iodine test, HIV counselling, general health check up, immunization, ANC, eye, RBS, dental etc were some of the health services availed by more than 253 beneficiaries from six villages under Chukitong block. 

Community Health Officers, Premy Ezung and Chonbeni Kikon gave health talks and demonstration of hand washing techniques to school students from five educational institutions at Chukitong area. The students were also given IEC leaflets on ill effects of tobacco usage related to Covid-19 and smoke free campaign by National Tobacco Control Programme, Wokha team.

Dr Akum Jamir, Nodal Officer, National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme, Wokha informed that sputum examination for any suspected TB cases, review of patients with comorbidity and cough symptoms and CBNAT service were carried out by his team during the mela.
