Dimapur, March 4 (MExN): A two day health mela was held in Kiusam town of Kiphire District on February 23 and 24. A press note received here stated that a medical team consisting of Dr. I. Sungit, CMO, Dr. Khriesi, Dy. CMO, Dr. Yanthan, Medical superintendent, Dr. Kibang, DIO, Dr. Khutsuto, SMO, Dr. Bendang (ONG), Dr. Keviyani Chücha, Dr. Imtirenla (Dentist), nurses and staffs of the medical department took part in the health mela providing their services to the people.
Free medical check ups and basic free medicines were given along with the services of specialized Doctors. The Sterilization Camp cum Health Mela witnessed hundreds of people thronging the center. Patients numbering to 342, f- 122 and m-131 availed free medical services at the Health Mela. Among the patients, there were 3 Cu-T INSERT IGNOREions, a total of 20 patients had Dental extractions and services like Immunization and vision tests were made available. Publicity and awareness was done in the form of distribution of IEC materials and at the same time IPC session was conducted regarding health talks on Family planning and Adolescents health care, Child Health Immunization, Malaria, Maternal Health and Iodine Deficiency and also HIV/AIDS.
The medical team also visited the neighboring villages, Pokpur, Old Thenokyu and New Thensonyu rendering their services to the people and also availed free basic medicines to the villages. This was the first medical camp held in this area under Kiphire district.
