Kohima, November 3 (MExN): The Kohima District Task Force meeting in connection with Intensified Mission Indradhanush & Routine Immunization was held in the DC’s office chamber Kohima under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS on November 3. The meeting had representatives from Education Department and Social Welfare Department. The meeting began with brief introduction of activities carried out under IMI and RI by Dr. Avile Zao DPO (RCH-UIP). She added that second round of IMI will be on November 7, for which all ASHAs and AWWs are to track ‘left-out and drop-out children accordingly to their due list.
SMO (WHO), Dr. Sheila Longkumer, in her presentation highlighted the need for rigorous awareness and mobilization to increase immunization intake and educate community on fear of Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI). She also said that, special attention is needed from AWWs for preparation of due list.
Project Officer (UNDP) Rajesh Khartu Monsang spoke on eVIN vaccine stock. He mentioned eVIN consist of a series of storage and transport links, designed to keep vaccine at recommended temperature at Cold Chain Points. This was followed by a brief report on vaccine consumption between October 9 to 15 and status of Vaccine Wastage in the last 6 months. Rajesh Soundararajan (IAS), DC, Kohima in his closing remark, stressed the need to involve Village Councils and Health Committees to generate demand for routine immunization, create awareness and to coordinate with village councils during the preparation of due list and micro planning. He also urged the allied departments present at the meeting to provide cooperation to the health workers in their respective areas.
