Healthcare Intelligence and Delivery

Dr AsangbaTzudir

Health care delivery remains a crucial component and also a cause of concern not only because of the emerging healthcare issues and challenges but also the need for the application of healthcare intelligence in going beyond the routine healthcare ‘norms’ in order to and optimize care delivery which will greatly improve healthcare outcomes, and most importantly enhance patient experiences.

Crucial aspects of healthcare intelligence includes Clinical Intelligence which touches on envisioning patient outcomes while also identifying the needs of the patients and delivering clinical support in providing real-time guidance and help. Another crucial component is operational intelligence, which is integral for streamlining healthcare delivery. All these and more will go a long way in effective monitoring of the patients at every stage of the healthcare process.

Talking about healthcare delivery system in the state, there is need for better coverage in all the districts especially the villages in order to deal with emergency situations. Yet, Healthcare is also not simply about hospitals, infrastructure, doctors and nurses but also the institutional policies, and work ethics and the application of healthcare Intelligence especially to bridge the gap between precious time wasted and time saved with the available resources at hand. Even the best hospitals with the most advanced infrastructure and equipments will fail in its health care delivery if the aspect of healthcare is not addressed professionally and intelligently.

While managing the available resources is an integral aspect of healthcare delivery, and because of the way in which healthcare delivery presents newer challenges, a lot of practical considerations crops up while dealing with emergency situations. This is also where the ethics of care comes into play in going beyond the routine checks.

The frailty of human nature and the various forms of negligence on the part of the healthcare personnel’s can happen anytime because of the routine nature of the work. However, at stake is life, and it is the ‘golden moment’ that comes at a threshold between life and death. Timely intervention is one of the most foundational aspects that needs to be greatly addressed, because, it is just a matter of human negligence or the frailty of humans that costs life, and in many cases the death of the patient is generally attributed to ‘bad luck.’

Beyond the infrastructure and the healthcare facilities, the aspect of healthcare intelligence and delivery is in need of professional dedication so as to avoid any disconnect or gaps in the process of care giving. And while there are healthcare delivery etiquettes and decorum, it is also imperative on the part of the general public to let the healthcare delivery take it’s own professional course of caregiving.
