Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today inaugurated the Cardiac Care Centre (CCC), a state of the art health care facility with the latest offering in cardiac diagnostic and therapeutic services at CIHSR, 4th Mile Dimapur.
The Centre has some of the most advanced cardiac and interventional machinery, which is not only first in Nagaland but among the best equipped in the North-East, the institute informed.
Speaking on the occasion, Rio said that installation of CCC was a huge relief for the people of Nagaland as well as for the neighbouring states given that about 45 million people out of the more than 1.27 billion estimated population in India suffer from coronary artery disease.
The addition of CCC at the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR), which is the need of the hour in the state, is amazing, he maintained.
Medical college in offing
According to a DIPR report, Rio also noted that the hospital has grown by leaps and bounds in collaboration with Christian Medical College, Vellore and Emmanuel Hospital Association (EHA), since handing over of the then Referral Hospital to CIHSR in 2005.
He also expressed appreciation to the CIHSR Society for giving their best in providing quality health services and further advised them for training the Government nurses and staffs on caring patients and hospital maintenance.
Visiting the infrastructures and facilities of all the departments, the Chief Minister said that the CIHSR as one of the best hospital health care unit in the state, if not in the region.
He also observed the dream of a medical college at CIHSR was not far and stated if it materialised, it would be a huge relief for the state.
Meanwhile, stressing on the need for creating friendly environment in the hospital, Rio batted for more plantations, good roads with proper drainages and growing of hedges along the roads.
Towards this end, Rio assured to send Road &Bridges engineers to do the needful and also the Forest department for beautification through plantations, the DIPR report stated.
Director CIHSR, Dr Sedevi Angami, meanwhile, informed that the CIHSR, being governed by the Government of Nagaland, CMC and EHA, is a unique Public-private partnership (PPP), which has worked very well for 14 years.
Such PPP model could bring huge changes especially in the Health sector, he added.
Upgradation of Cancer Care Centre (Advanced radiotherapy Centre), Centre for disability (training, treatment and support), Renal transplant and medical college were the plans ahead, Dr Sedevi informed.
Among best equipped CCC in NE
Cardiologist CIHSR, Dr Avitso Leigise, the head of the CCC, while explaining the logistics of the machines, informed that the unit was one of the best equipped in the North East with Catheterization lab for Angiogram and Angioplasty; Pacemaker Support; 2D and 4D Echocardiogram ultrasound Test, Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE)-EPIQ 7C, Cardiac Stress Testing, 24 and 48 hours Holter Monitoring.
The machines are the latest interventional machine and the best in the world offered by Philips, one of the leading companies in Cardiac Medical Imaging Technology, he maintained.
It also augmented by advanced coronary interventional software and tools such as dynamic coronary roadmap, stent boosting technology, intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), and functional coronary assessment (iFR), he added. These are integrated by Intrasight 7 System.
The inaugural event was chaired by MS CIHSR, Dr Clement Momin while concluding remark was given by Deputy Director, CIHSR, Dr Viu Meru. It was attended among others by Ministers Metsubo and Kasheho Sangtam, Advisors Dr Nicky Kire and H Tovihoto Ayemi, and Menukhol John, Advisor to CM and doctors and nurses.
