Heavy rainfall triggers landslides, damages houses in Zunheboto

Zunheboto, August 17 (MExN): At least 5 five houses, including the office of the Home Guards, Zunheboto, have been severely affected by a landslide that occurred on August 17 morning at DC Hill West Colony, in Zunheboto town. 

No casualties have been reported as the alert residents had evacuated in advance, stated a DIPR report. 

Lack of proper drainage system within the vicinity had compounded the precarious situation, it said. The district had been witnessing heavy downpour over the past couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Akuluto town, heavy rainfall on the evening of August 14 has caused multiple landslides.  According to DIPR, one house was taken down by the landslides while four more houses were affected. A person was also injured in the incident.
