Highest election related violence in Nagaland

When the 12th Nagaland State General Election was announced by the Election Commission of India, the signatories of the Naga Concordant declared through print media that they would not involve in the said Indian Election. But it is to be politely admitted that the cadres of all factions were involved in electioneering in one way or the other. There were threats and counter threats with dire consequences.

Intimidations and persuasions with show of sophisticated weapons and also blank firing and explosions to coerce the voters to vote in favor of this or that Candidate were witnessed. All these undesirable activities could not be completely avoided since the so-called national workers could not be completely isolated from the society.

However, the firing incident on February 21, 2013 at Pangti Village, under 39 Sanis Assembly Constituency was perhaps the highest and greatest   election related crimes in Nagaland committed by national workers. Half section of the Naga Army personnel was attached under the command of Capt. Albert (Nrikhon Tsanglao), who is the son-in-law of Nkhao Lotha (RJD Candidate) right from the beginning to the end. They harassed the public and threatened the voters and thereby disturbed the peaceful atmosphere of the Village. The Village Council authorities and the youths repeatedly asked the armed cadres to vacate the Village to restore peace and confidence in the minds of the people, but they insultingly defied the requests of the Villagers. Therefore, on February 21, 2013, the youths tried to chase them away from Village area. But instead of moving away from the Village, the armed cadres under Capt. Albert Nrikhon resorted to random firing against the youths and four of them suffered bullet injuries and are still under medical treatment. Their names are as follows:

1. Chenithung Shitiri - Bullet injury on his elbow.

2. Zanbemo Kithan - Bullet injury on the left leg.

3. Jonkhvurhumo Odyuo - Bullet injury on the right Cheek.

4. Ratsithung Shitiri - Bullet injury on the left hand and leg.

I wonder, with what objective and under whose order such crimes have been committed by the so-called national workers against the public with whose support, the organization survives. The concerned authorities should give befitting punishments to such erring cadres. The question arises, whether they are Naga Freedom Fighters or killing Naga publics in the Indian Election??

No amount of clarifications and refutations will cover these crimes.
