Highest single day spike with 126 cases detected

Nagaland today recorded the highest single day spike of COVID-19 cases in the State with 126 cases confirmed on July 31. 

Nagaland Health Minister, Pangnyu Phom informed that of the 126 cases, 95 are from Dimapur and 31 are from Kohima. “All contact tracing are fully activated for all safety,” the Minister stated.

With this, the State now has a total of 1692 cases, of which 1061 are active while 625 people have recovered. 

So far, there have been 4 official deaths from COVID-19 in the State. Two passed away in the COVID-19 Hospital and the other two passed away outside government facility. 

One suspected COVID death in Dimapur
There was another suspected COVID death in Dimapur today. A 41 year old patient with pre-existing ailments was brought dead to the Eden Medical Centre this morning. He was reportedly showing symptoms, so as a precaution his sample was tested through TrueNat, which came out positive. Sample for confirmatory test has been sent and the district surveillance team was on the job with the standard response measures. 

Dmp DC seals SBI old market branch
The Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur has ordered the sealing of the SBI, old daily market branch for 72 hours with immediate effect till further orders. An order from the DC stated that this has been done in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

In addition, the DC has also ordered sealing a house in Zeliangrong Colony, Dhobinalla and the disinfection of the house as well as the SBI branch premises within 48 hours. 

Strict home quarantine has been recommended for all the bank staff for 14 days starting from the last date of exposure i.e. July 22 till August 5. Family members have also be advised to be under strict home quarantine as per SOP and their samples to be collected.
