DIMAPUR, JANUARY 19: A six-day long training camp of Hindustan Scouts & Guides (North-east region) concluded Sunday, January 19 in Dimapur. The organisation as a movement is dedicated to the mental, physical, and spiritual development of youth. Members, who sign up are trained and imparted vocational skills to undertake activities relating to community development, social service and environmental conservation; to foster the spirit of patriotism, brotherhood, leadership and discipline.
Thirty-two participants from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland took part in the camp hosted by Holy Cross Higher Secondary School. The camp concluded with the Commandant of the 173rd battalion, CRPF, Anupam Sharma attending the valedictory function as the chief guest.
In his address, Sharma averred that Hindustan Scouts & Guides typifies discipline, determination and sacrifice. The lessons, practical as well as mental, learnt while being part of the organisation will not only benefit the individual to become a better citizen but also the society at large, he said. The “small things” learnt, though it may look insignificant, “if taken care of will lead to accomplishment of bigger tasks.” While expressing contentment at the way the camp was conducted, he urged the participants to apply the skills learnt in everyday life.
