History Recurs: Genocides In 20th & 21st centuries

Dr John Mohan Razu

A lot of similarities and co-relations be drawn between Nazism and Zionism; between German Chancellor Adolph Hitler and Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel. Hitler was the architect of the WW 11 (1940-1945), and Netanyahu, the one who declared war on Gaza (2023- to the present 4th August, 2025). Hitler waged war with an intent of controlling the world based on a racial theory that elevates Aryanas the most superior and pure race than others. It is built around racial supremacy model that pitches the German identity as the most ideal one—Nazism. Nazism represents a doctrine and a system, believes in exterminating other races on the grounds that they are not worth living.

Netanyahu hailing from a far-right extreme party believes in Jewish Zionism which believes in racial identity rooted in the Biblical claims of ‘chosen race’. Hitler viewed Jews as dangerous race and the immediate enemies and so be liquidated. Accordingly, Hitler worked out a system which would systematically terminate the Jews in the gas chambers. Millions of Jews perished. In about three years—by 1948, the Jews did manage to have their own sovereign Jewish State, on the land of the Palestinians adjacent to them. This was grand design of British colonialist.  This why usually scholars call Israel as a settler colonial state. Jewish Zionism is the core ideological tenets of the ruling dispensation which believes in the racist Zionist expansionism.

To a question why Hitler was against the Jews? Hitler was born in Austria in 1889 and developed his political ideas in Viena, a city with a large Jewish community where hatred towards the Jews was very common and one of Vienna’s mayors during that time was anti-Jewish. Apart from this during the WW 1 (1914-1918), Hitler was a soldier in the Germany army. At the end of the war everyone in German Empire believed that it lost the war because of the betrayal of the Jews and communists. Whether it was a myth or not, Hitler swallowed it.

Benjamin Netanyahu was born in Tel Aviv in 1949, and in 1963, his family moved to the US. His farther Benzion, a prominent historian and Zionist activist, was offered an academic post. At the age of 18, he returned to Israel and spent five years in the army as a captain in the elite commando unit. He was wounded in a raid on a Belgian airliner hijacked by Palestinian militant which landed in Israel in 1972., and fought in 1973 Middle East war. More importantly in 1976, Netanyahu’s brother, Jonathan, was killed leading a rapid to rescue hostages from a hijacked airliner in Entebbe, Uganda.

His death had profound impact on Netanyahu family, and his name became legendary in Israel. He held a number of positions in various capacities and is the longest serving Prime Minister of Israel. Since then, he has been saying “A Palestinian state will not be created … it won’t happen. His intense hatred was expressed while describing the Arabs/Palestinians as an enemy of incomparable cruelty.  He added that “They are committed to completely eliminating this evil from the world,” Netanyahu said in Hebrew. He added: “You must remember what Amalek has done to you, says our Holy Bible. And we do remember.”

Invoking the first Book of Samuel the Jewish and Christian Zionist and pseudo sympathisers justify the genocide to killing every person in Amalek, a rival nation to ancient Israel. Like what happened then Netanyahu says that he would follow the God’s commands that “‘I will punish the Amalekites for what they did to Israel when they waylaid them as they came up from Egypt. Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.’” Exactly as described by this text PM Netanyahu raged and influenced by multiple combination of personal and ideological—Zionism and Anti-Semitism.

Zionists war against the Palestinians is being fought as said in the book of Samuel. PM Netanyahu is ruthlessly following it. The rage and ferocity can be seen through the rubbles. As directed by PM Netanyahu the Israeli forces have launched heavy military ammunitions and deployed its forces in such ways clearly showing that the invasion of the Palestinians territories on all fronts in on and in due course is becoming more violent forms. Far-right Zionist ideologues and politicians are justifying their violent actions against the Palestinians.

Hitler answered the Jewish questions that he has been munching, while selling his arts and stayed with the people who came to sleep in the shelters in Austria. Hitler kept listening to what the common people said and, in his reading, he came to a realisation that the Jews were the enemies and by all means the enemies of German race and ought to be terminated. Whereas Netanyahu hails from a family that believed and worked for Zionism, because they identified including PM Netanyahu has identified that the Palestinians are the number one enemies of the Jews. Hitler and Netanyahu in their ideological and political visions have been different.

If we view the 20th Century and 21st Centuries holocausts we can see a lot of commonalities in the eliminations of their said races. The patterns and formats of destruction though different as Hitler used gas chambers and labour camps as points of extermination; while Netanyahu uses the open enclave to eliminate a race that they are antagonistic with. One glaring difference see is Hitler used closed enclaves which the people of the came to know only after the end of the war in 1945. But, the war on Gazza is being viewed on TV screens and print media by people across the world. So, the images we see brings before us what could have happened then.

Race (blood) and identity are the core to go all out for holocausts. In this case both German Nazism and Jewish Zion have deep-rooted critical racial ideological tenets. For these to work violent modus operandi is required, which both the proponents of holocausts worked out systems and made those to work. Both the holocausts have weaponised starvation, basic needs, and habitat. Their racial theories operated on similar vein: wiping out children and women through diverse modes and mechanisms.

Hitler believed in the hierarchy of races in which German race is the superior race (Aryan), while Netanyahu believes in Jewish Zionism and antisemitism. Both believed in ‘supremacy of race’: Hitler called “The Jew was only and always a parasite in the body of other people”. Zionist Jews use all kinds of derogatory words at Palestinians, but former defense minister Yoav Gallant out of frustration in the war called the Palestinians as ‘Human Animals’.
