HIV/AIDS awareness & screening held at Model Christian College

Students, faculty and resource persons at the HIV/AIDS awareness and screening programme held at Model Christian College, Kohima on July 19.

KOHIMA, JULY 20 (MExN): The Red Ribbon Club of Model Christian College, Kohima, in collaboration with the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS), organised an HIV/AIDS awareness and screening programme at the college auditorium on July 19.

The event was hosted by Liniu V Yepthomi, a BA 5th semester student. The programme opened with an invocation by Eteu Cho, followed by a welcome address from Kevilenuo Zao, Nodal Officer of the Red Ribbon Club, who highlighted the importance of collective efforts in HIV/AIDS education and prevention.

Sulivi Assumi, Social & Cultural Secretary of the Lotha Tribal and Traditional Youth Organisation (LTTYO), delivered a special message focusing on the need to combat stigma and promote community-driven health initiatives.

A musical performance by Vimugha Yeptho (BA 3rd semester) added a cultural dimension to the event.

The highlight of the programme was an awareness talk by Sentimongla Tzudir, District Programme Officer, District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU), who served as the resource person. She provided comprehensive insights into HIV/AIDS transmission, prevention strategies, and the significance of early screening and treatment.

The initiative aimed to equip students with accurate knowledge on HIV/AIDS while addressing social stigma associated with the condition. The programme saw active participation from students and faculty and concluded with free health screening for attendees.
