
Imphal, July 5 (NNN): Chief Commander and founder President of Hmar National Army (HNA) was shot dead at his Hmar Veng residence in Churachandpur district of Manipur in the wee hours of Tuesday. Unknown men shot dead HNA leader Lalthangshang Hmar, 54, near his residential gate around 1am, sources told Newmai News Network. Churachandpur is located about 60 km from the state capital Imphal. The militant leader was admitted to Churachandpur District Hospital but succumbed there due to grievous injuries he received in the deadly attack. HNA is a ceasefire group. The outfit supports the movement for a separate Kuki State in northeast India by bringing the Chin, Kuki, Mizo, Zomi and Hmar tribes under one administration. In 2010, HNA finance secretary Ramdin alias RD was found dead at Laijangphai village in Churachandpur.
