Dimapur, May 28 (MExN): The Naga Hoho today said it had to undertake the “painful exercise” of intervening into the stalemate between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) in the backdrop of the unprecedented situation arising out of the killing of Dr. Th. Kishan, SDO and two of his associates in Manipur. The Naga Hoho said it was overwhelmed to reveal that the impending breakdown of cease-fire, political negotiations and a bloody war could be averted. The Naga Hoho in a press statement issued by its president Keviletuo Kiewhuo and general secretary P. Chuba Ozukum, said the hoho, with the support and endorsement of civil society including the Eastern Naga People’s Organization intervened into the matter towards hammering out an amicable solution in the interest of the NSCN (IM), Government of India and the Nagas in general.
The move was necessitated considering the ongoing peace efforts among the different Naga political groups and the peace process with the Government of India, the hoho said.
The hoho informed that it was after several rounds of discussion with the NSCN (IM) leadership that the latter finally agreed to hand over the accused “Lt. col” HK Ningshen to the Naga Hoho on Thursday. The apex Naga organization also said that the same rounds of discussion was held between the hoho and the government of India over the imbroglio.
The government of India was pleased to send their representative a special Aircraft to Dimapur to pick up HK Ningshen, the hoho added. “It was a painful exercise on the part of Naga Hoho to intervene in such a stalemate between the two entities involving various factors. However, we are overwhelmed to reveal that the impending breakdown of cease-fire, political negotiations and a bloody war could be averted whatever the situation might be in near future. Further, we expect the same seriousness/sincerity from both the entities while sitting across the table to resolve the long standing political issues,” the Hoho said.
Extending its deepest appreciation to state government and security personnel for extending fullest cooperation till the departure of HK Ningshen from Dimapur Airport, the Naga Hoho also conveyed gratitude to both Government of India and the NSCN (I-M) leadership for extending co-operation and positive response.
