Hold Police recruitment interviews at District level, urges ENLU

Kohima, January 28 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland Legislators’ Union (ENLU) has urged the Director General of Police (DGP), Nagaland, to take serious note of the proposed centralisation of the Constabulary Oral Interview for the Nagaland Police Recruitment–2026 at Dimapur, stating that the move would cause grave inconvenience to candidates from remote and interior regions, particularly Eastern Nagaland.

In a representation, the ENLU said a substantial number of aspirants hail from far-flung areas where poor connectivity, acute accommodation constraints and financial limitations make travel to a centralised interview centre an undue and unjust burden. The union maintained that such an approach runs contrary to the spirit of equitable access and inclusive recruitment.

Strongly insisting that the oral interviews be conducted in the respective districts in strict adherence to the decentralised recruitment policy, the ENLU warned that any deviation would exacerbate logistical and economic hardships and undermine fairness, transparency and equal opportunity in the recruitment process.

The union said the matter should be accorded topmost priority and called for immediate necessary action. The appeal was issued on behalf of the ENLU by its Convener, P Paiwang Konyak, Minister for Health & Family Welfare.
