ZUNHEBOTO, DECEMBER 7 (MExN): The third day of Hornbill Extension event, celebrating Nagaland's rich cultural heritage, was held in Zunheboto on December 7. Organized by the Sumi Youth Organization, the event focused on showcasing the traditions of the district.
Y. Vikheho Swu, Former Minister, who served as an honored guest in his address described the Hornbill Festival as a "Festival of Festivals," acknowledging its role in showcasing Nagaland's rich cultural heritage and fostering unity among the people. He also emphasized that the Hornbill Festival has become a bridge connecting the past with the future, helping to preserve local traditions while embracing modernity.

Swu highlighted the success of the festival, noting that it has been held in Kohima, for 25 years, generating more than Rs 100 crore in economic benefits. The event has also helped build diplomatic relations with countries, including the United States, and has provided various opportunities for the youth of Nagaland, including jobs and entrepreneurial ventures.
He also addressed concerns about some negative impacts of the festival, such as substance abuse, but clarified that not all members of the Naga society are involved in such activities and Nagas society have changed drastically as compared to the earlier days.
In his closing remarks, Swu expressed admiration for the tireless efforts of the organizers, volunteers, and participants, whose dedication continues to make the Hornbill Festival a grand success each year.

He urged the community to continue celebrating their culture and traditions while fostering unity and progress.
Earlier, Vitoli Rochill, President, Sumi Hoho delivered a warm greetings expressing gratitude to the guests, including the Sumi Kukami Hoho, Town GB Association, and various other organizations for their support. The event showcased a series of traditional and cultural performances from various groups.
