  Our Correspondent Kohima | November 29   Sky Entertainment production for opening, closing ceremony The Sky Entertainment is managing the production works at the opening and closing ceremony of the Hornbill Festival of Nagaland.   The synopsis says “In the misty hills of the Naga's, Hornbill landed as a harbinger of peace. This magnificent bird flew into the jungles, mountains, hills, rivers and brought all the Naga's under one roof. Naga's adapt the colourful and the grant nature of this beautiful bird and attribute as the cultural icon of the Naga.”   The performance is put in three pieces. The first performance shows the transition of the Naga's engrossed in nature and appreciating the sharp characteristics of hornbill. This keen observation of nature and creatures are adapted to traditional dance, folk song and becomes a part Naga festival celebration and village community life.   The second segment of the performance dramatised the inter-tribal war and suffering of the villagers. It lament how pride, honour, valour has been the cause of this tragedy. It outlet that it brings only bitter pain to individual, loved ones and family. In the midst of this tribal rivalry we are reminded of the unity that has brought to through the Hornbill. The soul echoes from the hills to embrace for peace and love in the war.   The final ensemble performance shows how we have traveled from the petty rivalries to a shared identity. The six tributaries of Nagas Doyang, Dikhu, Tizu, Milak, Dhansiri, Zungki as the metaphor of unending flow of Naga journey for love and peace. The continuous flow of river represents the connection with the global culture and longs for brotherhood of nation.     Hornbill choral competition The 4th Hornbill Choral Competition in collaboration with NBCC is presented by Symphony Production and supported by Music Task Force. 10 choirs from Nagaland have been selected to compete for the title. The competition will start from 5: 00 PM on December 5 at Indira Gandhi Stadium. The judges for the competition include Khyochano Ngully, Asin Shurhozolie and Akhrou Koza.     Hornbill Riders meet The 5th edition of Hornbill Riders meet under the aegis of Nagaland Motorcycle Club will take place from December 4 to 5 in Kohima, Khezhekeno and Kisama. The flag off ceremony will take place at Tourism office Kohima at 10:00 AM on December 4.     US Ambassador to India to grace inaugural celebration Richard Verma, US Ambassador of India and Justice Ajit Singh, Chief Justice, Gauhati High Court, Guwahati will grace the inaugural celebration of Hornbill Festival on December 1 at 10:00 AM at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama. While welcoming the guests to the inaugural functions, all the cultural troupes are to line up both sides from the main gate to the VIIP rostrum. All the troupes are to yell and yodel followed by beating of log drums in their respective Morungs, according to the tourism department.     Troupes for Naga cultural performances The cultural troupes for Naga cultural performances during “Culturally Yours” throughout ten days Hornbill Festival includes; Chingdang Village Cultural Troupe (Konyak), Waromong Village Cultural Troupe (Ao), Phaijol Village Cultural Troupe (Kuki), Kithagha Village Cultural Troupe (Rengma), Phoyisha Range Cultural Troupe (Pochury), Pholami Village Cultural Troupe (Chakhesang), Mezoma Village Cultural Troupe (Angami), Tuensang Village Cultural Troupe (Chang), Yehemi Village Cultural Troupe (Sumi), Wokha Village Cultural Troupe (Lotha), Kachari Cultural Troupe, Purana Bazar (Dimapur), Sangphur Village Cultural Troupe (Yimchunger), Nsong Village Cultural Troupe (Zeliang), Orangkong Village Cultural Troupe (Longleng, Phom), Ekranipathar Village Cultural Troupe (Dimapur) Garo, Pathso Nokeng Cultural Troupe (Khiamniungan) and Angangba Village Cultural Troupe (Sangtam).     Media persons informed The Directorate of Information & Public Relations has informed all the media persons to collect media badges, programme and car passes for the forthcoming Hornbill Festival 2016 from the Directorate of Information & Public Relations from November 30 during office hour.
