Hornbill Festival Cultural Extravaganza promotes indigenous folk song and dance

Kisama, December 7 (MExN): The morning session of the Cultural Extravaganza on day 7 of the Hornbill festival was organised by the Department of Art & Culture with LT Gen RP Kalita, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, GOC in Chief, Eastern Command as the chief guest at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama on December 7.

Advisor, Food & Civil Supplies, Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection, K Tokugha Sukhalu was the Host while Advisor, Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, A Pangjung Jamir and MLA, Naiba Konyak as Co-hosts. Baüloi Vomshak from Phom community invoked traditional blessing, a DIPR report stated. 

The cultural troupes from Pochury, Kachari, Lotha, Yimkhiung, Zeliang, Sangtam, Rengma, Phom and Sumi communities participated with their songs and dances.

In the afternoon session, Deshraju Radhakhrishnan Chairman, Forum of Regulators for Eastern & Northern Eastern States graced the function as chief guest while Anil Arora Regional Director, Ministry of Tourism, Guwahati was the honoured guest. MLA, Kevipodi Sophie and MLA Imtichoba graced the afternoon programme as the hosts. Indigenous folk song and dance were performed by the following cultural troupes Chang, Kuki, Angami, Tikhir, Ao, Khiamniungan, Garo, Konyak and Chakhesang.
