ASA golden jubilee stone pulling

  The Angami Sports Association (ASA) golden jubilee stone pulling will take place on December 3 as part of the Hornbill Festival of Nagaland. It will start at 11:00 AM from KMC Parking lot Old Minister’s Hill and culminate at Phoolbari, Y. Junction. It will be followed by a grand function at the Kohima Local Ground.   Chief Minister TR Zeliang will be the chief host while Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will be the chief guest. Alan Gemmel, OBE Minister Cultural Affairs, British Council, India and Vinod Zutshi, secretary Ministry of Tourism, Government of India will be the honoured guests.   ASA has extended invitation to all tribal hohos and all Angami in-laws to the programme. ASA general secretary Er Zale Neikha said that right after the act of blessing, gun salute will be organized at the KMC parking lot and another at the Kohima Local Ground. ASA is expecting over 10,000 gathering at the local ground on that day.   Certain rules and regulations to be followed during the ASA Golden Jublilee Stone Pulling Programme: 1. Arrival of troops

a) Southern Angamis at Mohankhola and BOC b) Chakhro &Western Angamis at TCP gate c) Northern Angamis at Kezieke.

  The tropes are asked to reach the alloted junction at 10:00 AM. No vehicles will be allowed to ply after the arrival of the troops.   2. No vehicles will be allowed to be parked from KMC parking lot to Phool Bari Y junction during the process of the stone pulling programme.   All the Angamis are compulsory to wear the full traditional attire for the programme. Person without the full attire will not be allowed to pull the stone but have to walk behind the stone, according to ASA general secretary Er. Zale Neikha.   He also said that no one will be allowed to cross the rope of the stone. Guest/tourists can walk on the side ways to view the pulling.   Meanwhile, Kohima SP has issued traffic advisory for this programme.   The Stone Pulling Ceremony will take the route from KMC Parking Lot (Old Ministers’ Hill) to “Y” Junction (Phoolbari) via PHQ Point – Classic Island – PWD Junction – TCP Gate.   In this connection, the following traffic advisory is hereby issued in the interest of the general public.   No vehicle(s) shall be allowed to ply on the route from KMC Parking Lot (Old Ministers’ Hill) to ‘Y’ Junction (Phoolbari) from 1100 hrs till the end of the ceremony on 03/12/2016.   No vehicle(s) shall be allowed to be parked alongside the road from KMC Parking Lot (Old Ministers’ Hill) to ‘Y’ Junction (Phoolbari) from 1100 hrs till the end of the ceremony on 03/12/2016.   Vehicle(s) coming from auxiliary roads to the NH/main road (route mentioned above) shall be restricted from plying during the Stone Pulling Ceremony.   All upward vehicle(s) coming from Dimapur and proceeding towards Imphal/Kisama shall be diverted from Para-Medical junction via – Fira junction once the party crosses PHQ Point.   Vehicle(s)coming from northern side and proceeding towards southern side (Kisama) shall be diverted from Census Junction – Naga Bazaar – Paramedical route once the party crosses PHQ Point.   While enforcing the above traffic regulations, the Kohima Traffic Police requests all to extend fullest cooperation.    

Dance Competition

  Dance competition as the part of Hornbill Festival Kids Carnival will be take place on December 3 for class for 4-6 and class 7-9 at Children’s Park, Kisama. It will take place from 12:00 noon till 2:00 PM.   Rs. 4000 and Rs. 2000 have been set aside as Ist and 2nd prize.    

Culturally Yours

  “Culturally yours,” daily cultural performances by various Naga tribes under the aegis of the department of art and culture will start from December 3 at Kisama. It will start from 10:00 AM till 2:30 PM. First session from 10: 00 AM to 12:00 noon and second session from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM.   Chingdang Village Cultural Troupe (Konyak) will display on traditional preparation of war, Waromong Village Cultural Troupe (Ao)-Hornbill dance, Phaijol Village Cultural Troupe (Kuki)- Dance, Kithagha Village Cultural Troupe (Rengma)- Belegho, Phoyisha Range Cultural Troupe (Pochury)- Khru Pi-PI, Pholami Village Cultural Troupe (Chakhesang)- Ho-u, Mezoma Village Cultural Troupe (Angami)- Sekrenyi Pfhe, Tuensang Village Cultural Troupe (Chang)-Harvesting song, Yehemi Village Cultural Troupe (Sumi)- traditional fire making, Wokha Village Cultural Troupe (Lotha)- folk song, Kachari Cultural Troupe, Purana Bazar (Dimapur)-Baguruma, Sangphur Village Cultural Troupe (Yimchunger)- display of head hunting, Nsong Village Cultural Troupe (Zeliang)- Folk song, Orangkong Village Cultural Troupe (Longleng, Phom)- Eiyai Lungbo, Ekranipathar Village Cultural Troupe (Dimapur) Garo- Rugala Chokra or Rugala dance, Pathso Nokeng Cultural Troupe (Khiamniungan)- folk song while Angangba Village Cultural Troupe (Sangtam) will display weaving of clothes folk dance.   Meanwhile, Greased Bamboo Pole Climbing will take place from 12:00 noon onwards.    

Native Trax Society Music Awards

  Native Trax Society Music Awards have been scheduled on December 3 at NEZCC Complex, Dimapur. It will start from 5:30 PM.
