
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 9 (MExN): The Establishment of Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima, today said it is pleased to officially announce the fully functional status of its Department of Critical Care from August 20. This department was inaugurated on August 1 last by Union Minister Mani Shankar Aiyer in the presence of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, during his visit to the state last month.
“The authority would like to further highlight that this department will be a self-generating and maintenance unit with universally accepted components such as ICU, CCU, NICU, and Observation,” Managing Director of the hospital, Dr L Angami, said in a release. “With regards to the Dialysis unit, it will attain fully functional status as soon as the final verification of the machine by the Authorized Company is done.”
The department is also equipped with a multi-disciplinary laboratory which will function 24 hours. All emergency investigation in the hospital can be provided by this laboratory. This will also include special precaution blood investigations.
All personnel of the Critical Care department with regards to doctors, nurses, technicians and grade IV, have been specifically trained to work in such a state-of-the-art setup, the release said. “Besides their specific trainings in some of the top hospitals in the country like Apollo, Sri Ganga Ram, Escorts, International hospital, etc. the medical personnel have been provided with a month long intensive re-orientation course un critical care management here at Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima by visiting consultants from Delhi. This was initiated by the Naga Hospital Authority to deliver better health care to the people.”
“With the initiation of the department wef from August 20 till date, it has successfully attended to 35 critically ill patients, thereby decreasing the mortality rate of the hospital tremendously where facilities for monitoring and medical personnel, in the wards, are limited. This has also decreased the need for patients of the hospital and the rest of the state to be treated elsewhere.
