Dimapur, Nov 23 (MExN): In a consultative meeting between the Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) and the Manab Adhikar Sangram Samiti (MASS) at Dimapur on November 22, the two pioneer human rights movement in the region expressed the immediate need to address human rights issues in a more comprehensive and appreciative manner that would also reflect the solidarity of the peoples of the Region.
The organizations reviewed that the ongoing peace processes are indicative of the genuine desire of the people of the region for justice and peace. “However, it is observed that peace processes are often threatened by lack of in depth understanding of the history and situations of the people on the part of the state. This is causing more problems because it does not enable the state to address the issues that are central to peace, justice and development of the region,” a release issued jointly by the NPMHR and the MASS said.
The joint meeting appealed for addressing the ongoing differences among indigenous peoples who have shared fraternal ties in places like Karbi Anglong by empowering the communities to re-establish traditional amity among the different peoples.
