Humbling oneself and self-assurance in one’s calling to serve the Lord was the message of Rev. Rümatho Nyusou, Executive Secretary, Pochury Baptist Church Council, who delivered the ‘Commencement Allocution’ at the 23rd Commencement Exercise (graduation ceremony) of the Oriental Theological Seminary (OTS), Dimapur.

The convocation ceremony for the OTS Class of 2018 was conducted at the Sumi Baptist Church, Diphupar on May 20. The graduating Class of 2018 included 32 students – 26 M.Div, 4 M.Th and 2 Diploma in Theological Studies. Rev. Nyusou in his address said that as young theologians, the students must inculcate the humility to learn ceaselessly and have a clear understanding of the mission they have pledged to undertake.

While doing so, he said that one must also not undermine the wisdom of those who have come before them. “May we all have the humility to admit our ignorance.”

Stating that simply praying and asking God for a job or “what ministry is the right place for you?” would not work, he said, “Make yourself available to God and make him use you as he wants” as did Paul the Apostle.

Kerino Meyase (M.Div), speaking on behalf of the graduating class, described the occasion as stepping out into the greater task ahead “to translate the theology we have absorbed” not only as theology graduates but as true disciples of Christ. “Let us go out as radical participants in the kingdom of God… May we as disciples never lose sight of the Cross of Christ.”
