Kohima, October 16 (MExN): Along with rest of the country, the ICICI Bank today announced the launch of a Digital Banking Unit (DBU) at Dr Neilhouzil Kire Complex in Kohima.

It was part of the 75 DBUs in as many districts inaugurated virtually by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das, to commemorate 75 years of India's independence.

In Kohima, Nagaland’s lone Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) S Phangnon Konyak attended the inauguration ceremony at the Bank’s DBU in Kohima.

As per an ICICI Bank release, the DBU comprised of two distinguished areas-- a Self-service Zone and a Digital Assistance Zone.

The Self-service Zone houses an ATM, a Cash Deposit Machine (CDM) and a Multi-Functional Kiosk (MFK) that offers a number of services including printing of passbook, depositing cheque and accessing internet banking, it informed.

The Kiosk aalso offers all services available on iMobile Pay, the ICICI Bank’s mobile banking app, it added.

The Self-service Zone is operational 24x7 and provides a digital interactive screen where customers can interact with a chatbot as well as find product offers and mandatory notices.

At the Digital Assistance Zone, branch officials assist customers to undertake various financial and non-financial transactions, the release said.

These include opening of saving account, current account, fixed deposit and recurring deposit; availing of home loan, auto loan, personal loan and applying for credit card.

These services are offered in a completely digital manner through a tablet device, using Aadhaar based eKYC.

The branch officials will further help customers download and start using the mobile banking app as well as internet banking and opens from 9:30 am to 3.00 pm on Monday to Friday as well as on the first, third and fifth Saturdays of the month.

Speaking on the new initiative, Rakesh Jha, Executive Director (Designate), ICICI Bank said: “It is like a digital branch where customers can undertake banking transactions in a completely digital way, at a time of their convenience. They can also seek guidance from experts on banking services at these units.”

The customer’s behaviour at branches has evolved and they are now more keen to seek advice and guidance for complex transactions, loans and investments while they prefer doing simple transactions on their own at digital channels like internet and mobile banking, he said.

“We have designed the DBU to meet these evolving requirements of our customers,” Jha added.

In addition to offering banking services, the DBU at Kohima will conduct Digital Literacy Programme regularly to spread awareness around safe banking, digital banking and cyber security.

Apart from Kohima, the ICICI Bank set up three more DBUs at Karur in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Dehradun on October 16.

The ICICI Bank is a leading private sector bank in India with a total assets of Rs 14,15,581 crore at June 30, 2022, the release added.
