Dimapur, March 26 (MExN): The Indian Council of Social Science and Research recently sponsored a two-day national seminar at Unity College of Teacher Education (UCTE), Dimapur, under the theme ‘Teacher Education for Sustainable Development:  A Road Map for 21st Century.’

Speaking at the inaugural programme, Dr Timir Tripathi, Regional Director, IGNOU, Kohima, highlighted about the vocational education under NEP 2020 and education to impart 21st century skills. Dr Gyanendra Nath Tiwari, Professor, Department of Teacher Education, Nagaland University, in his key note address stressed on the challenges and the lack of resources as well as challenges for sustainable development, according to a press release from the UCTE. 

Resource person for the technical sessions were Dr M Rajendra Nath Babu, Assistant Professor (Senior scale), Department of Teacher Education, Nagaland University, Dr Yolila Sangtam, Assistant Professor, Department of Teacher Education, Nagaland University and Fr Dr Jose Joseph, Principal, Bosco College of Teacher Education, Dimapur.

Dr G Viswanathappa, Professor, Department of Education, Regional Institute of Education, Mysuru, delivered the valedictory address and highlighted about the NEP 2020 goals to set the National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPST) in order to determine all areas of teacher management and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programmes for teacher training. On the occasion, the 2nd Semester student-teachers dramatised a play from Naga Folklore titled ‘Axone.’ Participants present for the seminar were teaching faculties from other educational institutions and research scholars, the release stated.
