Dimapur, August 14 (MExN): The Indian Dental Association Nagaland State Branch (IDANSB), on the occasion of the Indian Independence day, acknowledged and expressed gratitude to all dental surgeons who stood strong in the fight against COVID-19.
“While people were largely confined to their homes with businesses and educational institutions all shut down in an attempt to contain the virus, Dental surgeons were leading the battle against COVID-19 along with other front line workers,” the IDANSB stated.
The under-resourced front line workers faced unprecedented challenges, while putting their own lives as well as their families at risk for the sake of saving the lives of others, it said, adding that their sacrifice for the safety and welfare of the people is priceless and deserving of ‘lifelong gratitude’.
Making special mention of the various dental surgeons working as COVID warriors in the State, the IDANSB also called for a reassessment of the value of health-care workers. It also called to find ways to sufficiently invest in a better and more efficient health care system and give medical professionals the respect, compensation and infrastructure that they deserve.
IDANSB also highlighted the exemplary efforts of Dr Neiphrezo Sorunuo, SMO incharge CHC Aboi Mon district who continued to be in the line of duty despite having lost his first child during the first wave of the pandemic.
“He spearheaded and managed both the 1st and 2nd wave of the pandemic at Aboi CHC Mon District,” the Association stated, adding that during a short period of time as SMO in-charge, he completely transformed the landscape of the CHC.
IDANSB meanwhile expressed gratitude to all its members in every district for their continued support and participation in various community health programmes conducted by the Association.
