Peren, September 11 (MExN): The Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Peren District held a second governing board meeting at KVK office, Jalukie on September 9, with agri and allied departments.

On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner and board chairperson Vineet Kumar while exhorting the members to be active, sincere and transparent in their approach said that the focus should be in identifying the needs of the farmers and supporting with improved production through adoption of viable technology.

According to a press release received on Sunday, he advised the line departments not to confine themselves to particular areas but to penetrate activities in the entire district and even in the far flung areas. Emphasising that all farmers deserve equal opportunity to avail Government policies and schemes, the DC also underscored that the farmers are not getting the deserved amount of revenue for their hard work due to lack of knowledge on marketing channels. They also should be encouraged to adopt farming based on demand of the neighbouring states and the nation even if it is not locally preferred for cross marketing and to create higher income generation, he said.

He also suggested that more farmers should avail opportunities in the finance sector where different kinds of agricultural loans are available for higher production and input benefit. Reminding that the ATMA Governing Board is a forum conglomerated to work together with joined hands to bring about increased production and supply to uplift the living standard of the farmers, he encouraged agri and allied departments to take the opportunity and change the life of farmers, the release stated.

Earlier, opening speech was delivered by Dory Yanthan, who is the Project Director ATMA and also the District Fishery Officer while Principal Scientist, KVK PEren KL Meena gave a presentation on ‘Achievement & Activities’ carried out during 2022.
