‘If govt. sincere, probe all depts.’

Dimapur, May 12 (MExN): If it is sincere, the state government of Nagaland should initiate investigations in all the departments, law students today said, referring to the ongoing verification  in teachers’ appointments. The Nagaland Law Students’ Federation explained that illegal appointments are being made with the involvement of departmental officials in the first place.

In a note today, the NLSF said the culture of “bogus appointments” and backdoor-appointments have destroyed the educational system in the state with competent and qualified youths deprived of opportunities of employment. ‘It is high time such illegal appointments are stopped once and for all’, the students said. Referring to the verifications being made in the School Education department in regard to bogus teachers’ appointments, the NLSF said it is laudable but it still is only in one department.  “If the government is sincere enough to clean the system, investigation should be carried out in all the departments of the state. Such illegal appointments being not without the involvement of the officials of the department; erring officials should be identified and appropriate penalty imposed on them” the NLSF said.

The NLSF has advised the government to maintain absolute transparency in matters of public appointments “to maintain the basic principle of democracy.” Vacancies in all the departments should be advertised so equal opportunities to deserving citizens can be ensured, the law students said. The NLSF also expressed support to the government in all its endeavors that seek to deliver justice to the society.
