DIMAPUR, MAY 27 (MExN): The Ighanumi Village Council invalidated clarification of the FGN on the death of Nishena’s death, which claimed that the culprits, in fact, belonged to Chakhesang Zopra Group. The press release issued by the VC Chairman and Head GB, Ghunakha Kiba and K Nekuto Swu, detailed the event that led to the death of Nishena Zhimo, a chowkidar of Government Middle School Ighanumi. The release stated that the FGN Sumi Region cadres under the command of SS. Major Obed Sema of Viyilho village along with five other jawans had stopped Nishena at Chozuba Town under suspicion. The cadres had also stopped the VC member Vikha (Vikato) Kiba, who had come for shopping and ordered him to sign a statement saying that Nishena was an informer of the NSCN (IM), to which the VC member refused.
The release further added that the cadres refusing to listen to the plea of the public leaders of Chozuba Town took the victims towards Japan Riba Government High School, Chozuba and tortured the two victims in separate place. After beating them into half-dead conditions they were taken in a van to Chozuba town and Nishena was further beaten to death. The dead body was taken to the house of a widow, Mudenilu at around 11 pm and the VC member, Vikha was ordered to sleep where the dead body was lying.
The release added that the cadres had also looted an amount of Rs. 3000, belonging to the Church community from Vikha, and took his mobile phone. Some cash was also looted from the possession of the deceased.
The Police station of Chozuma further certified the identity of the culprit and the case is under investigation. The VC Chairman and Head GB has further appealed to the authority of the NNC/FGN to acknowledge and view the matter as early as possible and award befitting punishment to the culprits further appealing to all right thinking citizens to condemn the heinous crime.
