Seeks appointment of teachers at GHS Ighanumi
Dimapur, January 9 (MExN): The Ighanumi village community has given the Nagaland Department of School Education 15 days to appoint or deploy teachers to fill in the shortage at the Government High School, Ighanumi.
The ultimatum, addressed to the Principal Director for School Education, was issued on January 9. It was appended by Isak Lohe (Ighanumi Village Council Chairperson); Kuvutoli Sumi (President, Ighanumi Students Union), and YevisheAchumi (President, IghanumiYouth Organisation).
The ultimatum referenced three representations that were reportedly submitted to the Principal Director on December 2, 2021, then on March 21, 2022, and again on June 17, 2022 to appoint/re-deploy six graduate teachers— two for Maths, one English and three General, as well as a headmaster.
In this connection, the joint statement underscored that the GHS has been functioning with only three graduate teachers and that too without a headmaster or an assistant head master.
According to the statement, despite having submitted several representations, “the concerned department have again issued a redeployment order for the transfer with post of GT (General) from Government High School Ighanumi, Zunheboto bearing order NoED/ RATIONALIZATION/INTER-DIST-2/2022.”
No Objection Certificate (NOC) for transfer with post was not issued from concerned village authority, it added.
It said that the GHS Ighanumihas been one of the best performing schools under Zunheboto district for consecutive seven years with a pass percentage of 87.5% in HLSC 2021.
It thus, urged the concerned authority to take the matter on top priority, keeping in mind the 16 students who are going to appear the upcoming HSLC Examination and the future of the other students.
The entire community will be protesting with the expiry of the deadline, if the matter is not addressed, it added.
