
Kohima, October 2 (MExN): The IGNOU Regional Centre, Kohima, kicked off the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign at the Centre with the Regional Director, Dr Premila Swamy D, administering the Swachhata Pledge to the employees of the University on September 11.
As part of the campaign, the Centre also organised a cleanliness drive on September 24 at Government Middle School, Jakhama village, with the participation of teachers and students.
In addition to promoting the adoption of a sustainable lifestyle to address the challenges of environmental degradation and climate change, the team from the Centre encouraged the children to put their best efforts into fulfilling their dreams. The team also motivated the faculty to pursue further studies and make the best use of the programmes offered by IGNOU for their career advancement.
A drawing competition was also organised on the theme Swachhata, where 110 students participated in four categories—Classes 8 & 7, 6 & 5, 4 & 3, and 2 & 1.
Certificates and prizes were distributed to the top three students in each category.
In continuation of the campaign, the Centre also organised a webinar on the theme “Importance of Waste Management and Health Hazards” on September 30, with Kevisede Pucho, Assistant Environmental Engineer, Nagaland Pollution Control Board, as the resource person.
The objective of the webinar was to sensitise the public on contributing towards providing an efficient, effective, and sustainable waste management system in the state of Nagaland, informed a press release from the Centre.
