ILP in Dimapur: State Govt convenes meeting with various orgs on Dec 13

Dimapur, December 11 (MExN): The State Government has convened meeting with members of 13 organisations on December 13 in connection with the extension of the Inner Line Permit to entire district of Dimapur. 

The president and two representatives from following organisations based in Dimapur have been requested to attend the meeting:  Assamese Samaj; Agarwal Samaj; Brahmin Samaj; Bengali Samaj; Bihari Samaj; Bhojpuri Samaj; Gurudwara Sriguru Singh Sabha;  SD Jain Samaj; Maheshwari Samaj; Meitei Samaj; Muslim Council; Oswal Samaj. The Nagaland Gorkha Association Kohima has also been invited with the same representation.  

Nagaland Chief Minister, Deputy CM, Cabinet Ministers, Leader of Opposition, Members of Parliament Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, Advisors and Members of Nagaland Legislative Party  will also be present at the meeting, informed a notification issued by Principal Secretary, Home Abhijit Sinha, IAS. 

The meeting has been called against the backdrop of the Nagaland state government expanding the coverage of the ILP regime to include Dimapur district within its purview.

A notification issued by the State Chief Secretary on December 9 informed that in  pursuant to the Cabinet decisions of February 15, 2019 and December 9, 2019, the “Governor of Nagaland is pleased to extend the Inner Line to cover the entire District of Dimapur with immediate effect” in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 2 of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873, and in the interest of the public.
