Dimapur, July 8 (MExN): The Eastern Naga National Workers' Union (ENNWU) today indicated support to recently announced Frontier Naga Territory (NCT) by stating that the “economic imparities and lack of infrastructural development in the region cannot be left unattended,” but with a caveat.
“The hue and cry of the Nagas from Eastern Nagaland areas with regard to the imbalance development activities since the inception of statehood has gained a momentum specially this recent years,” noted a press release from Convener ENNWU and Collective Leadership Member NSCN (IM), B Moba Chang.
The sole motive of the people is for developmental purposes and economic upliftment of the areas to live at par with the fellow Nagas in certain aspect, it said, adding that economic and infrastructural development in the region need attention.
However, the ENNWU asserted that the pursuit of any developmental programmes and activities must not “infringe/jeopardize” the Naga political issue, which had “surpassed and survived” all the past administrative arrangements from both India and Myanmar so far.
After the August 3, 2015 Framework Agreement, the ENNWU and Nagas are also “awaiting for the final solution to the long drawn Indo-Naga Political issues to have a final inking on the basis of the long lasting, honourable, acceptable and inclusive settlement,” it added.
