Dimapur District Task Force meeting on Intensive Mission Indradhanush and National Deworming Day underway at Dimapur Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall on August 3.

Dimapur, August 3 (MExN): The Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 5.0 commencing from August 7 will focus on high risk areas in Dimapur, the District Programme Officer (UIP/RCH), Dr Rebecca Y Sema stated on Thursday.

The objective of IMI 5.0 is to identify all the left out beneficiaries and vaccinate them with all the due doses of vaccination, she noted, addressing the Dimapur District Task Force meeting on IMI and National Deworming Day (NDD) held with allied department and stakeholders.

Routine Immunisation started in India since 1978 and has now expanded to the Universal Immunisation Programme (UIP), one of the largest public health programmes, she noted.

With this, India achieved the status of polio free country in 2014 and later in 2016, the World Health Organisation (WHO) certified India to be maternal and neonatal tetanus free, she added.

On NDD, Dr Rebecca informed that  it is aimed at deworming all preschool and school-age children (enrolled and non-enrolled) between the ages of 1-19 years through the platform of schools and Anganwadi Centes in order to improve their overall health, nutritional status, access to education and quality of life.

She further advised the adults too to take deworming tablets twice a year.

However, as all schools are closed due to the summer holidays, the DTF members resolved to initiate Albendazole tablets once the schools re-open.

The meeting was chaired by Mhalo Humtsoe , ADC Dimapur and the programme was attended by representatives from Social Welfare and Education Department, other civil societies and staffs under Chief Medical Officer’s Office Dimapur.
