Dimapur, August 1 (MExN): Responding to the Congress’s criticism at the way the ‘soft’ government is handling the law and order situation in the state, Nagaland’s Home Minister today emerged again with the claim that “The law and order situation of the state is much better.” In response to Congress leader KL Chishi, Imchen also even went so far as to claim that the “whole Naga people as well as Government of India have been appreciating for the improvement of law and order in the state.”
Interestingly in his response, Imchen regularly referred to Chishi’s character as “suffering from superiority complex” and that it was “very unfortunately a person like KL Chishi cannot accept improved situation because of his superiority complex, which is very understandable by one and all.” “The law and order situation of the state is much better than last year and last year was even better than 1990s and early 2000s. The whole Naga people as well as government of India have been appreciating for the improvement of law and order in the state,” the Home minister claimed.
Imchen continued his criticism of Chishi: “However, very unfortunately a person like KL Chishi cannot accept improved situation because of his superiority complex, which is very understandable by one and all. He is very fond of making things twisted so as to mislead the people even though, he has never succeeded in his venture throughout his life and therefore, I appeal that the utterances of K.L Chishi should be taken just for himself.”
Returning to government-related matter, Imchen said the DAN government under Neiphiu Rio “has been trying” to work with all sections of the people, be it civil “societies,” church or with citizens.
“On his leadership, a government is always appreciated (sic) the role played by civil societies and NGOs all throughout because they represent the voice of the people in true sense. Therefore, appreciating and cooperating with the NGOs is one of the catalysts of the government policy and programmes,” Imchen justified. “There is no wrong whatsoever for taking cognizance of the opinion, articulations and even the grievances of the civil societies,” the minister stated.
Imchen acknowledged that the “people want to live in peace and tranquility so that they’ve security in their mind to venture their life activities.” He appreciated the fact that civil “societies” in the state are willing to “cooperate with the government while trying to contain the law and order situation.” Imchen added: “Such cooperation and support with the government today, there is much improvement over law and order situation and people are freely expressing their opinion because of the improved situation.”
