Tuensang, February 18 (MExN): The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) while appreciating the bold directives issued by the Directorate of School Education (DoSE) on detecting proxy teachers, has appealed the concerned department “to implement that order in letter and in spirit without undue influences.”
The DoSE had earlier issued a directive that requires erring teachers to report to their places of posting and email photographic evidence to the department.
Extending full cooperation in its implementation, the ENSF also cited the state government, where it stated that it was unbecoming of a government servant and violation of Rule 4 of “The Nagaland Government Servant Conduct Rules, 1968,” and urged the department to uphold the Rules “without favoritism or nepotism.”
While the education system faced challenges in the recent years, the ENSF held that it was “also on the part of concerned authority where the loopholes occur for not upholding the Government notifications or policy, where the students are at the receiving end.”
“How can a student excel in their academic by running with shortage of teaching faculties?” the ENSF posed in a press release appended by Vice President Hamnyei Angh and Asst General Secretary Khomo P.
It further asked the Higher Education department to “immediately detach those Assistant Professor who are also attached,” given that “many of the colleges in Eastern Nagaland are without adequate subject lecturers and Assistant professors.”
It also questioned the transfer policy from Eastern Nagaland to other districts without considering the student’s future in mid academic session.
The ENSF meanwhile, assured the students’ community that the ENSF “will not compromise or succumb to any tactical play by the Government or Non-Governmental agencies which come as a hindrance to the student’s future.”
It also termed the policy on attachment of teachers and Assistant professors as “absurd,” stating that the “creamy layer of attachment policy of teachers and Assistant professors at Directorate or District or VIP level will not benefit the student’s future.”
In this regard, the Federation has asked the concerned department to immediately “withdraw or detach the teaching employees both from DoSE and Higher Education who are attached at the Directorate or District or at VIP level to detach them without further delay.”
It also urged the department to provide concerned subject teachers at Eastern jurisdiction.
Meanwhile, concerning the health sector, the Federation appealed to all the medical staff to be stationed at their respective District Hospital which also includes the medical staff posted at PHC, CHC and Sub-centre “within 20 days from the date of this publication.” It also asked all the doctors to “make themselves easily accessible for the patients.”
The Federation further requested all the CMOs from Eastern Nagaland to follow strict compliances and to ensure that adequate supply of medicines and facilities are functional within their jurisdictions.
It meanwhile, asserted that “any erring officer or employee taking these appeal for granted shall be doing so at their own risk and the Federation will leave no stone unturned to reprimand those erring officers.”
