Training program on smell-less piggery farming technology ends

The import of pigs from outside the State is now reduced to Rs. 124 crore. This was informed by R. Khing, adviser to department of AH & Vety Services and Women Resource Development while gracing the valedictory function.
The week long training on smell-less piggery farming technology concluded here today under the aegis of the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services.
Khing said the department has to make a change in the piggery farming which is very important in the state. With the knowledge acquired in both theory and practical in the 7 days training, they should go and spread the message to every household in the villages to adopt the hygienic and productive way of rearing pigs as we all are rearing pigs in a traditional method with the offensive smell, he said.
The reason for conducting this training is to equip ourselves with the technology advancement, so as, to bring our requirement for meat to come to self sufficiency.
The wrap up note was delivered by Dr. Aomangyang Walling Addl. Director & HoD. He reminded the trainees that, the technology they have learned was on smell-less piggery farming, but to let others also “smell” the technology through them.
He also requested the Women Resource Development department to come together and work in promoting the pig farming, which the women folk have a vital role to contribute in this aspect. The meeting was chaired by Dr. L.Temsu Ao, Jt. Director. Hitoshi Yokota, Agriculture Consultant from Japan also delivered short speech.
The training programme witnessed participants from the department of AH & Vety Services, Women Resource Development, Nagaland Pig farmers Association, Progressive farmers and internees.
The function concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Dr Temsumeren, Joint Director.
