Kohima, April 12 (MExN): The Department of Information & Public Relations (I&PR) held an introductory meeting with the Advisor I&PR, SCERT & Village Guards, Toshi Wungtung at the conference hall of its directorate on April 11.
The new Advisor I&PR said, “It is important to be informed to be right, and at the same time right to right information is also very important… community participation is very important, this department can do a lot of contributions to bring community to the game.”
According to a DIPR news report, the Advisor talking about his background said he has done researches and have looked for information, reading and writing books and co-authoring. “All the departments are in need of our service because everyone knows how important it is to know and to get updated, we believe in participative and inclusive governance,” he mentioned.
“I believe in inclusiveness and participation, which to me is democracy. I&PR is the backbone or the launch pad to strengthen the spirit of democracy, I look for your innovative inputs and co-operation and also look forward to working with you all,” Wungtung further stated.
Director I&PR, Limawati Ao, during his welcome address, gave an overview of the Department. He highlighted on the structural set up of the directorate as well as the district offices, the role and activities of the department and also the changes in the priorities of the department during the last several decades since its inception.
Additional Director I&PR, Z. Tokishe Sema chaired the programme, while Commissioner & Secretary I&PR, Lithrongla G Chishi gave the concluding remark.
