Imtilemba puts onus on youths to transform economic landscape

WOKHA/MOKOKCHUNG (MExN): Minister for Transport & Communication, Labour & Employment Imtilemba Sangtam today challenged the younger generation to change their mindset and move forward to face the fast changing economic development in the 21st century. 

Inaugurating the Industrial Training Institute at Wokha and Mokokchung, the Minister expressed concern over the attitude of the people that go after easy money and draw income without any work. He also asked the people to avoid unproductive activities, which he said was only wasting their investment and the government exchequer.

The Minister advised the people to make the best use of whatever small amount designed for generating employment in the state.

The establishment of the four new ITIs and modernisation of 3 existing ITIs in Nagaland was part of a package from by Ministry of Employment and Craftsmanship Training.

The Minister said ITIs had been set up to impart vocational training to both male and female trainees. A separate women ITI has been established at Dimapur for the female trainees.

“In the world of competition, these days, the scope of employment for the general qualified people is becoming lesser day by day and technical qualification has become an added advantage for employment”, Imtilemba said.

Regretting over the absence of viable industries in Nagaland, the Minister stressed on the importance of technical knowledge, pointing out that without it economic activities would remain stagnant.

The Minister said the ITIs will impart both theoretical and practical training in different trades and expressed confidence that it would mould the unemployed youths to be self sufficient to execute their skills in different trades that will further open wider avenues for employment.

“The training in ITIs will also make you fit to establish small scale industries in different trades and enable you to earn through self-employment without seeking job from others,” the Minister said.

He also urged the newly recruited staff to work sincerely and exhibit utmost devotion to make the youths technically literate in order to remove the problem of employment.
