Inaugural High School Futsal Tournament begins in Mokokchung

Mokokchung, July 22 (MExN): The inaugural edition of the 35+ MFL High School Futsal Tournament got underway at Mojabi Futsal Turf in Mokokchung on Wednesday, with 27 teams participating in the three-day competition.

The tournament, organised by the 35+ MFL, will conclude on July 24.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung, Vesupra Kezo, inaugurated the tournament and encouraged the young participants to make full use of the platform to develop their footballing skills.

Referring to the recently concluded FIFA World Cup, Kezo cited the performances of young players such as Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsí, saying they had excelled at the highest level of the sport. He urged the participants to take sports seriously, maintain discipline, follow a healthy diet and work consistently on improving their skills, fitness and game intelligence.

While every team aims to win, becoming a better player through dedication and continuous learning is equally important, he said.

The inaugural programme was chaired by Aoluin, while Imliyapang invoked God's blessings. Convenor of the 35+ MFL, Aongsen, delivered the welcome address.

The organisers said participation in the tournament is free of registration charges.

The competition carries cash prizes and certificates for the champions and runners-up, besides individual awards.

According to the organisers, the tournament aims to nurture football talent from a young age.
