Dimapur, October 24 (MExN): The 11th Indo-Myanmar Regional Border Committee (RBC) meet will kick off from October 25 at Mantripukhri Assam Rifles Headquarter under Imphal East district, Manipur. The bi-annual event, which concludes on October 29, “provides opportunities for representatives of Security Forces and Civil establishment of both nations to discuss and resolve crucial issues,” informed a press release from Inspector General Assam Rifles (South). India’s Act East Policy’ focusing on extended neighbourhood in the Asia-Pacific region by promoting economic cooperation, cultural ties and develop strategic relationship with countries in the Asia-Pacific region has made significant progressed under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the release further said. The North East India has been a priority in the policy, and Manipur’s proximity to Myanmar gives it an edge in the Act East Policy, it added. Seeing the importance of the policy, the Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has formulated the state’s own ‘Act East Policy,’ it noted adding that it is only natural that the next round of RBC is being held in the state.
