Zunheboto, December 14 (MExN): CMO office Zunheboto and Nagaland Health Project, Zunheboto observed ‘Infection Control Review Week’ at Satakha PHC on December 14. Dr K Akaho Sema, CMO, Zunheboto in his keynote address stressed that infection control and bio waste management was important and we must be aware and follow guidelines provided by government to prevent infection and contamination of the health facility. He also said that out of all the waste generated in a health facility, only 20% were hazardous and it was crucial that these waste were handled and disposed off appropriately to avoid contamination of the health facility.
Tokuli Wotsa, DPM-QA stated that waste generated in the health unit must be segregated at source in the appropriate color coded dustbins and disposed off separately. She also oriented the health workers on evaluation criteria and checklist to qualify for NQAS certification. A press release from Shekho Sophie, District Media Officer, CMO Office Zunheboto stated that in the first session Satakha PHC staff demonstrated on how they managed waste in their facility while in the second session facility level training orientation on National Quality Assurance Standard (NQAS) for health workers was conducted. The programme was chaired by Vitoli, DPM and vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Mulasato Keyho, MO I/c Satakha PHC.
