Kohima, September 20 (DIPR): The State Government in co-ordination with the Accountant General (A&E) has taken up a new initiative to reduce the delay in Pension Authorization to State Government employees. The ultimate aim of the initiative taken as a mission by the State Government is to authorize the pension before the retirement of the Government employee to enable him/her to draw his pension from next month of his/her retirement.
As a part of the initiative, a two day workshop cum training programme was inaugurated by C.J. Ponraj, IAS and Principal Secretary to Government of Nagaland on 19th August 2012 in the presence of V.K. Girijavallabhan IA & AS, Accountant General (A&E) Nagaland and Ravi Kiran Ubale, Deputy Accountant General. The training is handled by the officers from the Office of the Accountant General. More than 60 departments attended the training cum workshop programme.
During the workshop cum training programme, officers and staff from different directorates located in Kohima were appraised the need to authorize pension before retirement day and they were also trained on the rules to be followed, procedure to be followed and documents to be submitted to the office of the Accountant General. C.J. Ponraj during his inaugural speech exhorted the officers present to speed up the process to ensure that all personal entitlements are given to the employees on the day of retirement. In order to facilitate the process, all Heads of Departments are asked to submit the complete list of retiring employees during the year 2013 to the Accountant General, P&AR and Administrative Heads on or before 30th September 2012. All retiring employees shall be issued with the pension application forms with the supernnuation order six months before the retirement and all such pensions applications shall be sent to Accountant General six months before the date of retirement. The State Government and Accountant General intend to take the workshop/training programme to grassroots level by conducting such workshop/training programme in the districts to cover all the Drawing and Disbursing officers where the pension cases are originally processed.
The Accountant General (A&E) in his speech reiterated the need to submit pension application by the retiring employees six months before their retirement date. He wanted that all pending pension cases in the Departments are submitted to his office within another month and to send all future pension cases sufficiently early to ensure authorization of pension before retirement date.
