Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima in his presidential address highlighted the contribution of Catholic schools to the educational progress of the state. He said that 20-25% of students passing out each year from NBSE are from Catholic schools.

He wondered if the “students passing out of our schools are fed only with intellectual knowledge since we notice that in spite of Christian values being inculcated, many in respectable positions many seem to follow the crown and not ready to stand against corruption and injustice.”
