Dimapur May 10 (MExN): The Naga Hoho, in its affirmation that one of the core issues attached to the Naga political movement is the right of the Nagas to live together under one political and administrative umbrella, terming the matter as the common rallying point, has called for unity and participation in the upcoming May 13 Naga Integration Rally organized by the United Naga Council (UNC).
“(The rally) is a continuous process of demonstrating that no matter what it takes, Nagas will become one. The Naga Hoho therefore urges all Nagas to steadfastly pray for the success of these endeavors, which carry the common aspirations of our people and to also demonstrate solidarity in its right perspectives” Neingulo Krome, General Secretary of the Naga Hoho stated. The Hoho asserted its role that it was formed to “physically articulate” the common dream of the Naga people as an organization which is being represented by all Naga tribes as a concept and as a rallying point for all Nagas to come together, with contempt for the artificial boundaries of India and Burma (Myanmar). “This was also done with full understanding and knowledge of all Nagas, despite the existing ‘internal contradictions and differences’ amongst the ranks and files of Naga national leaders, coupled with attempts to unite the fragmented Naga socio-political set-ups which came about as a ‘consequence of the long-drawn Indo-Naga-Burma political conflict” according to the Hoho.
Accentuating the need for Nagas to unite, symbolized by the scheduled Integration Rally, the Naga Hoho implored all Naga leaders irrespective of political, social or traditional affiliations to desist from furthering any provocations that create fear and suspicion. “But rather nurture hope and confidence in all our activities which will ultimately shape the future of our people according to the wishes of every Naga” the Naga Hoho called.
