Inter-college Cryptic crossword expedition held in NERIM

Guwahati, June 24 (MExN): National Inter-college Cryptic Crossword Expedition (NICE) for Higher Education Institutes (HEI) students was held in NERIM Group of Institutions, Guwahati on June 23 to facilitate a holistic educational ecosystem which has become the need of the hour with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 coming into force.

It was organised jointly by AICTE and National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE, Mumbai) under the guidance of Ministry of Education (MOE), Government of India.

The event was a grand success and the flair and expertise with which the students of the representative colleges approached the competition was worthy of applause. The Director of NERIM, Prof. (Dr) Sangeeta Tripathi, along with Girish Bhasin, Assistant Director, AICTE, New Delhi, and Prasanta Sagar Changmai, IGP (T&AP) Assam Police, were the Guests of Honour during the event. The session was compared in grand style by Cross-Master Ochintya Sharma. Maharaja Bir Bikram College, Tripura, represented by Joynil Saha, won the 1st prize, while Debjit Debnath and Uday Debnath from Netaji Subhas Mahavidyalaya, Tripura stood as the runners-up. The Second runners-up position was bagged by Diptanu Paul from Bir Bikram Memorial College, Tripura. 

A press release received here stated that Crosswords have had a history of being an excellent learning tool enhancing logical reasoning, strengthening memory, problem-solving skills, creativity, etc. With this in view, the event was an encouragement for students to think out of the box and come face to face with the future of learning in our country. NERIM Group of Institutions has proved an able partner to innovative education once again, as has it been its history.
