Inter-Departmental Sports Tournament 2024 in Mokokchung concludes

The Second Edition of the Inter-Departmental Sports Tournament 2024 concluded with a closing ceremony at the Indoor Badminton Stadium, Mokokchung on October 5. The three-day event, organised by the Mokokchung Allied Departments Organizing Committee, brought together government employees from across the district, promoting unity and sportsmanship among various departments.

Chubayangla, Retired Principal of Fazl Ali College and Member of the Mokokchung District Pensioners’ Association, was the special invitee for the event.

In his tournament report, Er Toshikaba, Executive Engineer of PWD (R&B), Mokokchung, and a member of the organizing committee, highlighted the success of the event, which saw enthusiastic participation from 59 departments. A total of 754 participants, including 556 men and 198 women, took part in a range of sports such as futsal, badminton, table tennis, carrom, chess, and arm wrestling.

The special invitee, Chubayangla, in her speech, underscored the importance of sports in overall personal development. She noted that sports not only promote physical and mental well-being but also build essential qualities such as leadership, dedication, and sincerity. “Excellence is achieved only through all-round development, and education without activities is incomplete,” she stated. Chubayangla further praised the organizers, commending their dedication in fostering a spirit of unity and togetherness. She emphasized that the camaraderie cultivated during the tournament should extend beyond the stadium to ensure cooperation and understanding among departments for the district’s growth and development.

The tournament’s final matches were followed by the prize distribution ceremony, where the Department of School Education was declared the overall team champions, while the Department of Youth Resources & Sports was recognized with the Best Discipline Award. The Championship Trophy was handed over by the special invitee, Chubayangla.

The ceremony also included a special musical performance by Soul House Academy, Mokokchung, and Vesupra Kezo, delivered a short speech, expressing appreciation for the efforts of the organizing team and the participants, emphasizing the importance of building strong inter-departmental relationships.
