The Government of India's Interlocutor for the Naga Peace Talks AK Mishra held a meeting with the Working Committee of the Naga National Political Groups (WC, NNPGs) at the Police Complex, Chümoukedima on Thursday.

The Working Committee reportedly apprised Mishra of the Naga people's desire and aspiration for an early solution to the Naga political issue.

According to a member of the WC, NNPGs, it also questioned Mishra as to why the Government of India has been delaying the issue when the talks have already been concluded in 2019. Towards this, Mishra reportedly said that there was no delay and that the solution is 'a work in progress.'

"We were told that the Government of India is working on whatever was discussed between all Naga negotiating parties, and its conclusion would come soon," the Working Committee member stated.

He also said that the Working Committee asserted that BJP leader Ram Madhav's 'Election for Solution' slogan of 2018 cannot be left unfulfilled as the same government is still in power at the Centre.

"We cannot speak for other groups or negotiating parties, but have conveyed the people's aspirations and desires and asserted our stand. It is now purely up to the Centre to bring the matter to a conclusion," he added.

Meanwhile, Mishra is said to have urged the Naga people to have a little more patience while maintaining that GoI is not delaying but working hard to resolve the Naga political issue.
